To quote the essay by Valerio Paolo Mosco in this volume, this publication is aimed at examining appropriate integration of architectural projects within the landscape. The founder of Ubik Architecture, architect Gabriele Pinca, is behind the design of the new Il Quinto estate winery in the hills of Magliano in Toscana, a small town in the province of Grosseto. The cellars were designed to blend with the landscape avoiding any attempt to create a discernable structure; it becomes gradually visible only on entering the estate. Photos by Alessandra Chemollo.
