Invisible Ecologies is a project promoted by Forma Edizioni, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and SIAE, as part of the “Per Chi Crea” program, created to support contemporary artistic research by fostering young talents. The work of Tommaso Cherubini, an artist under 35 active in the field of visual and digital experimentation, takes shape within Rifugio Digitale, a Florentine exhibition space dedicated to generative art and emerging audiovisual languages. The project stems from a desire to reflect on the relationship between humans and the environment through a local and emblematic case: the interaction between the Arno River and the city of Florence. Using this historical and environmental connection as a starting point, the project develops into a broader investigation of how we observe, represent, and interpret the ecosystem we inhabit. Invisible Ecologies is conceived as an attempt to explore the relationship between technology, environment, and perception, beginning with the deeply rooted spatial bond between the environmental entity of the river and the city, understood as a material and symbolic extension of the human social body.
Tommaso Cherubini is a visual artist whose practice moves between generative artificial intelligence, data processing, immersive environments, and multimedia installations. His artistic research focuses on translating historical archives and databases into layered visual experiences, shaping fluid narratives that question memory, time, and landscape. His goal is to highlight contemporary challenges and issues through new media art, reinterpreting historical archives and databases using generative AI in order to give new life to data and images. In addition to his personal projects, he works as a freelancer in the fields of cultural heritage digitization, communication, and visual scenography for live music performances. As an expert trainer in generative artificial intelligence, he collaborates with public schools and companies and has been a speaker at conferences and webinars promoted by institutions such as ICOM – International Council of Museums. He has worked on projects for major cultural institutions such as the Egyptian Museum of Turin and for some of the most influential musical artists on the contemporary scene, including Lazza. His work has been presented in prominent venues and events such as Milan Design Week 2025, the Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin, the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge, the Turin Planetarium, and Graphic Days 2024.
