Arkitime travels from Florence to Naples and selects a firm that fully embodies the identity and spirit of the city it portrays: gambardellarchitetti—aka Cherubino Gambardella and Simona Ottieri—a firm that, for over twenty years, has interpreted the concept of design through a passionate, hands-on approach.
The authorial dimension of their work is evident at every scale at which they are called upon to intervene, whether it’s an urban landmark like the new entrance to the Scampia train station, an installation in the Royal Palace of Naples, or a mysterious domestic interior; each time, they express an absolute and conscious love for the city and, more broadly, for architecture as a source of well-being in our individual and collective lives.
A designer’s choice to embrace a deliberate and free form of authorship—one that does not devolve into a gratuitous gesture but instead becomes a unique mark on the city and the territory in which they operate—is an asset to the context in which they intervene. This is because it interprets and complements all the architecture and spaces that preceded it, becoming both a novel creation and an interpretation of the place. Every architectural work is closely tied to a tradition, reinterpreted through a deliberate translation that inevitably leads to a departure from the original point of departure.
Luca Molinari Studio was established in 2015 by Luca Molinari. His independent studio is supported by a team of professionals from the fields of architecture, exhibit design, graphic design, publishing, copyediting, and project management. Luca Molinari Studio provides integrated services in content design, consulting, curation, planning, coordination, and management of projects and processes in the fields of architecture and design culture. Among the objectives of their work philosophy are providing sustainable tools capable of promoting and sharing knowledge; giving concrete form to visions and needs in the context of contemporary living; “building” awareness; and giving voice, identity, and quality to urban places and territories.
