Through experimentation and the free research of contemporary materials, Francesca Pasquali (Bologna, 1980) gives life to a kind of weaving that is everted into the environment to become not far from an architectural element. The creative process is expressed in the interweaving of polymeric, natural and artificial materials, pre-established grids, from which emerge large phytomorphic, hand-woven structures. The works of Francesca Pasquali manage to capture one’s attention, beckoning all eyes to observe them with admiration and curiosity. The industrious harmony of forms should thus be classified amongst the experiential fields tied to nature, not in the sense of imitation, but as a model of interpretation through editing.
“The work of Francesca Pasquali is pervaded by influences deriving from biological elements present in nature, and it is born of a need to create an antithetical dualism between form and matter that hybridizes the natural and the artificial in a new figuration. […] It is as if a play on multiples and submultiples were orchestrating form and matter, as with the artist’s straws, frappe and bristles series. Pasquali immolates herself on the surface of the work, offering her repeated and precise gesture as a testimony of a will in the making that organizes itself around the construction of form.”
