Artificial intelligence is rapidly redefining many disciplines, and architecture is not excluded. Its application in architectural design is transforming the way architects conceive, develop and realise projects, leading to a revolution that goes beyond the simple visualisation of spaces. AI is not just a new tool, but represents a profound change in creative processes, in the way architecture is conceived and, more generally, in the philosophy of design itself.
An example of this transformation was observed in the workshop carried out with the students of ICAD – International Master Degree Course in Architecture at the University of Florence in which each of them was invited to use AI to explore in detail the needs of a character of their own invention, developing from this information a customised architectural project.

Thanks to an initial interaction with ChatGPT, the students were able to gain an in-depth understanding of the habits, desires and needs of their invented character, leading to the conception of spaces designed specifically for his or her needs.
