Fuoriarchivio constitutes a collection of 241 drawings made by Renato Ranaldi from 2014 to 2022, and 43 Indian ink and charcoal drawings whose rediscovery occurred subsequent to the previous cataloging ordered in two volumes (Renato Ranaldi. Drawings 1959-2013, I-II).
The anthology presented aims to oppose that destiny of forgetfulness that concerns art and demonstrate how drawing, as it unfolds, is an open window on the sea of hypotheses and outlines where it is possible to get lost.
Renato Ranaldi was born in 1941 in Florence where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in painting in 1962. In the course of his production he follows personal paths, far from the artistic trends of the moment. Through multiple experimentation with techniques and materials he focuses a linguistic function alien to current modes. His attention turns with particular interest to drawing, from which plastic and pictorial work springs. He exhibits in museums in Italy and abroad (Malmö, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Fresnes, Vienna, Cetinje, Goeppingen) establishing himself among the most interesting artists on the contemporary Italian scene.
